Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Washington (M.M.I.W.W.) led the 2018 Seattle Women’s March 2.0. With our Indigenous Contingent we helped uplift our community by bringing awareness of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirits (LGBTQ+). This year, with Duwamish Nation's blessing, #MMIWW continues to be at the forefront of the 2019 Seattle Women’s March 3.0. We will continue to bring awareness by uplifting Missing and Murdered Indigenous Families and Victims, while promoting respect for our Indigenous Communities and our Motherearth. We have also partnered with Be the Change Network.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Men and Two-Spirits (LGBTQ+) Matter! Our Native population only makes up 4% of the population, this why our numbers are high. In Uplifting our Indigenous communities and promoting change to help uplift our most oppressed and suppressed communities will help make changes and uplift ALL of our Nation and ALL Communities.

Nationally there is a pandemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. There is no comprehensive data base, just estimates of our Missing People. In 2017, the National Crimes Center reported 651,226 Missing People, 322,263 Missing Women and Girls, of those Missing Persons, 10,642 were Missing Native People, 8,179 were Missing Native Children, 5,712 were Missing Native Women and Girls. Washington State Patrol reports 98 opened cases in our State. The MMIWG data base reports 180 and still growing! We don’t know how many of those who went Missing were Found, Murdered, or are STILL Missing!

The Urban Indian Health Institute released a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Girls #MMIWG Report. The report estimated that Seattle, WA has the highest rate of open unsolved cases of Missing Native Women. Washington State has the second highest rate of open unsolved cases of Missing Native Women.
Nationally Native American Women experience Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence at ten times the National Average. That is why we are also promoting to #Clearthebacklog because there are 7,000 rape kits in WA State that still need testing!

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Washington have brought awareness of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous People for over a year. We have been advocating for families, we have petitioned Washington State government in enacting bill #HB2951 to help create a Data base in Washington State to keep better track of our Missing Native Women. The bill passed Senate with 48 yeas and 01 nay. We plan to create more bills to help protect ALL of our Women in Washington State.

We are also welcoming Motherearth and Water Protectors! One reason our Women go Missing, is due to the Man-Camps associated with oil mining, drilling, and exports, including the LNG plant #NoLNG. #ClimateActionNow #ProtectOurSalishSea #EnvironmentalJustice

Come join us! Show your Solidarity by Wearing RED for our #MMIW and PURPLE for Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking #VAWAnow Together WE can make a change, because #WeAreTheChange
