There aren’t many artists who’ve soundtracked the birth of dance music and are still leading its development more than two decades later. There are even less who have gifted both the club and pop scenes with unforgettable musical moments that get talked about years after their creation. Dave Seaman is one of a select few.
Having devoted almost every weekend over the last 20 years to moving dancefloors from Ibiza to Iceland, Seaman has played the world’s most recognized festivals and clubs in more than 80 countries throughout his career. Along with crafting beats for pop stars like Pet Shop Boys everyone from David Bowie to New Order and U2 to Michael Jackson have received a Seaman re-rub.
Dave Seaman has the distinct honor of being the first ever editor of the club bible Mixmag. He has contributed 10 mixes to the revered series Renaissance and Global Underground secured his services to mix their Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Cape Town & Lithuanian volumes.
Via the independent record label Selador Recordings which he co-owns with friend, Steve Parry, his inspired A&R has helped nurture some of the finest groove-merchants in dance music. The label’s roster speaks for itself, with D-Nox & Beckers, Danny Howells, Dubspeeka, Cristoph, Darren Emerson, Jimpster, Re.You, Lee Van Dowski, Uner, Affkt, Audiojack, Guy Mantzur, Quivver, Gorge, Loco & Jam, Metodi Hristov, Smash TV, Habischman, and Robert Babicz all contributing tracks and remixes recently.
30 years on from that initial boyhood dream, the places and people may have changed, but Seaman’s passion hasn’t. As busy as ever, he still continues to create. His recent releases on Suara, Noir Music, Sudbeat, Sincopat & Hive Audio have seen him enjoy both critical and chart success and with a whole wave of remixes ready for release, Dave Seaman is both on the frontline and quite simply one of the legends of electronic house music.
